Islam-The savior for Slaves

The religion that gave rights to slaves was Islam. Though slavery was not abolished by the teachings of Islam, but believers are asked to treat their slaves well. It’s highly meritorious to free the slave and slave can too ransom himself. A freeborn Muslim can never become a slave; therefore slavery is to be abolished by the expansion of Islam. The history of Islam shows many former military slaves, usually recruited from among the Central Asian Turks, became military heads and rulers in medieval Egypt, eastern Iran and India.

Islam has tolerated slavery but never approved of it and all its teachings in this subject lead to suppression of slavery. As it was impossible to completely abolish this practice because all the states used to practice this and the idea was never challenged anywhere. It was common practice to enslave the prisoners of war who were not killed and abolishing this custom would have put Islamic state at a grave disadvantage to its enemies. By ordering humane treatment ad various possibilities of releasing themselves, it made many combatants in opposing armies prefer captivity at the hands of Muslims to death on the battle field.

It has to be highlighted that slavery in Muslim world can never be compared to that in other empires like the Roman Empire. Islam teachings and legislation provided basic right to life to all slaves in Muslim world. According to a hadith, ‘whoever kills his slave shall be killed by us’. Thus murder of a slave was punished like that of a free Muslim.
According to the Quran, ‘O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God’s sights is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-knowing, All-Aware’ 49:13
According to hadith of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H)
Yield obedience to my successor, although he may be an Abyssinian slave.
He will not enter paradise who behaves ill to his slaves. The companions said; “O Prophet of God! Have you not told us, that there will be a great many slaves and orphans amongst your disciples?” He said, “Yes; then be kind to them like your own children, and give them to eat of what you eat yourselves. The slaves that say their prayers are your brothers.”
“Your slaves are your brethren, therefore whoever has a brother who depends upon him must feed and clothe him in the way he feeds and clothe himself; and should impose upon him tasks which exceed his capacity; should you ask them to do such things ;then you are obliged to help them.”  Another teaching is: ‘Let none of you say, “This man or this woman is my slave”. He should rather say, “This is my man and this is my woman.”’ At another occasion Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said, “It is true that God has made you their masters, but, had He so wished, He could equally well have made you their slaves.”

Islamic legislation provides the method for voluntary liberation of slaves by their masters and there were many Muslims who observed these in their lives and freed their slaves. In addition to that, slaves had the ability to but their freedom with sums which they saved from their work and which state mostly augmented – a measure which the slave owners had to right to oppose. This procedure is known as mukataba.

There existed military slaves, who were frequently employed by the princes for their personal guards, and domestic slaves which were generally imbued with patriarchal character. Military slaves, some of them, became founders of great and illustrious dynasties like Tulunids and Mamlukes of Egypt. The object of a growing commercial sector, which under the Abbasid Empire was often the specialty of non-Muslims, slavery gradually got suppressed until, at the beginning of last century it was confined to a few survivals which have now vanished totally. It would be very difficult to deny that social conditions were remarkably humane during the great periods of Muslim civilization.

Islam as a religion has been resistant to racism and genocide. Muslims have both owned and traded in slaves but slavery among Muslims used to be race-neutral. Slaves could be black, white or other and so could be masters. It was totally in contrast to other slavery systems, like white masters-black slaves concept of trans-Atlantic slave system. And the concept that black people are less than human made possible this Atlantic slave trade, during which perhaps 40 million people dies.
So, Islam became the first revealed religion being followed by African slaves and they made a struggle to uphold Islamic practices.

How Islam valued slaves and gave them rights is evident from a historical milestone of a slave. Bilal, a black slave freed by a companion of Prophet (P.B.U.H), was the one who offered first call to prayer (Azaan) at the Quba mosque built by Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).  While the supreme court of US declared in 1857 that slave Dred Scott could not sue for his freedom because he was not a person, but property.  Among all the religions, surely, Islam is the only religion that attacked the foundations of this evil.

Dying Hope of "Naya Pakistan"

"Hope" is the stimulus for any movement to be a revolution . Any movement needs hope in hearts of every member who is part of that movement and if by any means this stimulus is disturbed then whole movement can lose its momentum and die before causing the change for which it was started , Its being the rule and it will remain the rule . The movement i want to talk about today is , " Movement of justice " by Imran Khan that was started in 1996 but it got attention of everyone in 2011 when Imran Khan held a series of processions across the country and mobilized people of Pakistan specially youth by filling their hearts with "Hope" . Hope to see a change , Hope to end enormous corruption in Pakistan , Hope to bring rule of law hence Hope to build a " Naya Pakistan ".

Imran Khan had been saying such things since 1996 , and he had same charisma in his personalty
even at that time too plus he had huge fan following . But the "Hope" factor never grew in those 16 year of his struggle untill people of pakistan saw simultaneus failure of both PPP and PMLN govts. After watching their choices , PPP and PMLN, fail yet again the commoner got attracted towards 3rd option automatically. The slogan of "Change" was raised and people followed it madly there was hype in every street and every town about IK and Change . Hope was evident in all people who saw or heard the Tsunami jalsa of pti. People put their all hopes on IK as the last option . Then started a huge inflow of strong candidates from all over Pakistan who started joining PTI at rapid rate . And in 3 months after 30th Oct jalsa , PTI had got hundreds of candidates bringing enormous criticism and media trial with them for PTI as gift.
On one side it looked good that PTI had got so many candidates
while on the other hand two very harmful factors came into being . First , there was criticism from all media and other political parties who wished to malign the name of PTI to damage hope created by IK . second, internal fights of old and new started in every city and party leadership started to feel pressure from old guard and newcomers both . The good thing Khan had done was he never promised ticket to anyone and all people joining PTI joined it unconditionally. But still party was totally disorganized by the infighting and immature behavior by old PTI workers who had very less knowledge of politics . To solve this ugly scenario party took the bravest step in history of Pakistan politics , to hold party elections from UC to Chairman , a thing that never happened before in Pakistan or any country of south Asia . Khan valued his followers and old party workers and transferred all power to them to elect their own leaders themselves, all the local organizations were dissolved .
Party membership was done and elections were announced which kept on
delaying because the members party got after membership was 3 times greater than what party had expected. This was the time when PTI totally went into a shell and instead of doing work in different areas and constituencies , they started organizing their party and to organize 10 million members can never be an easy task we can judge that. After delays the elections in party started from Islamabad and finished in November there , then KPK elections are still going on after several delays . Punjab , Sindh , Baluchistan are yet to happen and 40 days remain in desolation of assemblies at maximum. Where these elections gave very good messages to workers it also started damaging the hope of Pakistanis . All political parties worked hard in field to gain ground this year and PTI was lost in a shell , being busy in hectic party elections. Politics of Pakistan saw many things where PTI should have been out with people of Pakistan but the leadership is in no situation to take such decisions because no local body of PTI exists so far anywhere except Islamabad

The hope that everyone talked about an year ago started to fade away as many Pakistanis  saw other political parties gaining grounds , bringing in electables and making alliances and PTI remained silent all this time. A common man who has put his bet on IK started to get confused and started saying IK came with a bang but he has slowed down too much , he is seen nowhere now and we don't think he can win now as other parties have prepared themselves while PTI is still waiting for its own elections which are scheduled to end in March . On the other hand IK is still standing by his statement that PTI will sweep elections . One thing is clear and IK knows it too , he has to finish this party election thing as quickly as possible now and prepare for the real elections and real battle .

IK has point of view that PTI will sweep elections because they need just 60 days
to create a wave of tsunami all over Pakistan . After which the party ticket will get the votes , the votes of "Change" and the votes of "Hope" on which IK is relying now. Asad Umar is being made the head of election campaign for PTI and he will do it on marketing basis in which he is an expert undoubtedly . The campaign will be named "Naya Pakistan " and will be run by volunteers . It is said to start in end of feb or start of March . On thing is clear Khan is not relying on big names , nor is he running after candidates he just want to prove in public that his party PTI is the party of "Change" and 80% Pakistanis are willing for change now . If IK succeeds in proving this point in public and if he succeeds in bringing that voter of change to pooling booths then there is no stopping , but if trend remains the same as it had been in past elections where families and educated people don't bother to vote on election day then PTI got no chance against the veterans of politics . That "Hope" for "Change" is to be kept alive in hearts of Pakistanis if PTI really wants to sweep elections , its fading , its dying but still in some corner of hearts of everyone there is a ray of hope . Khan has to just reach their hearts once again to bring that hiding ray out . Being Muslims our hopes should never die and we should hope for good and pray for good from Allah. As far as PTI and its campaign is concerned ,
Its either 120 seats for PTI or just 20 .

What happens is yet to be seen and many things are
yet to be unfold in coming days and election positions will be decided when care taker setup is formed and PTI comes out with full fledged campaign. But there remains a question which everyone asks to oneself daily ,

" Will Imran Khan be able to create a wave and "Hope" before elections or not???? "

Youth and Politics of Pakistan

" Punishment for refusing to b part of politics one gets is , Being governed by idiots "

"Youth" is the word used by every anchor , every leader , every analyst after the gigantic 30th oct jalsa by Imran Khan . What was evident from that day was that youth has chosen its leader, the passion of youngsters who were part of that historical event in manto park clearly was giving the verdict that " Hum Mulk Bachany niklay hain , Ao hmaray saath chalo" . The news channels and all the talk shows were taken by storm and it was above expectation of everyone even bigger than what IK would have estimated. Then started the "typical PMLN politics" of maligning someone by personal attacks and that was the time when the poor media team of PTI got exposed for the first time. And for an year PTI had to bear the criticism done by PMLN and PPP in talk shows and even by some anchors. PTI spokespersons never were able to defend party stand in front of seasoned politicians and 30,40 year old parties .
All this media bashing on PTI and poor defending by PTI resulted in severe confusion among Pakistani people who an year ago had decided to bring IK a their Prime Minister come what may. What most amazing thing happened was suddenly Punjab govt opened all the treasures towards youth to attract them , leaving all things aside PMLN focused on youth fully because they had known and seen the youth factor in Iqbal Park jalsa. Laptops , yellow cabs , internships, youth festivals, solar lamps and huge publicity was done to attract youth towards PMLN and take youth factor away from PTI . And the ugliest thing was that it worked to some extent and created further confusion among youngsters. But still recent surveys clearly showed PTI the most popular party of Pakistan in youth.
Reason for this topic being chosen by me is the recent trip i had to abbotabad with 11 friends of younger brother . 9 of them were supporters of IK and remaining 2 were PMLN supporters . I was told by my friend that i should not indulge in political discussion with PMLN supporters at all because they are very aggressive and die hard supporters of PMLN . We hardly talked about politics until we left for home from there and on our way back i had interaction with both of them. I was curious how educated people chose their affiliations with any party , what do they consider . My question was just one to them , "Which PMLN policy in these 4.5 years impressed you so much that u decided to vote and support them? plz enlighten me about health and education policies of Punjab . Policies not programmes though. " . The answer they had was shocking. because their answer was mere silence for 2 minutes . And they were really thinking now being doctors they knew about health structure of Punjab . They didn't utter a word in support of PMLN and it was shocking for all 6 people sitting in the car . That told us all they never thought about policies and problems of Pakistan . They just made their mind without gaining any political knowledge and they had been influenced by media . Then i asked a PTI supporter about health policy of PTI and when he told that i was amazed how well aware he is with the latest developments in the political scenarios and problems of Pakistan .
We had 2 PMLN die hard supporters when we started our journey back and 4 PTI supporters in the car but when we finished our journey it was 4 PTI supporters and 2 people willing to go for third option whoever he is . The point i got from that conversation with them was any politically aware person (YOUTH) just can not support any party which has remained in power and never solved Pakistan problems . They may get influenced by their family trends but when someone gains some knowledge about problems in Pakistan and their solutions then one supports third option and Pakistan needs its Youth to b politically aware now . As many say it once again,
                                                      "Now or Never"
Its a misfortune for Pakistan that here people are illiterate and they get influenced by slogans , and that's why popular slogans of "Change" and "Youth" used first by PTI r now being copied by many political parties who never did anything for youth in their governments before. Its up to youth now , what they want . Whenever youth has decided something it has destroyed all calculations being done by analysts . What every Pakistani needs to do is ; spread political awareness about problems of Pakistan and their solution because we don't want our generations to get the punishment of being governed by idiots. May Allah bless Pakistan with honest leaders . Amen .

Pakistan- An experiment or A State !!!

India and Pakistan together account for one fifth of the world’s population. Their size and influence have made the continued conflict between them a long-standing cause of global concern. Their adversarial relationship has been marked by three major wars, rival allegiances with other powers (including China, the former Soviet Union, and the United States), many military skirmishes and violent incidents, and a nuclear arms buildup
The “two-nation” theory, espoused by Mohammad Ali Jinnah and other leaders of the Muslim League, held that Hindus, who constituted the majority in most of British India, and Muslims, who constituted the majority only in British India’s northeast and northwest corners, should not be forced to live together in one nation, but should each be granted their own country. To safeguard the rights of Muslims, Jinnah and others argued, they must be granted their own state. “Pakistan”—an Urdu-language word meaning “land of the pure”—was coined in the 1930s and became the name of the proposed Muslim nation. This was the base being made by muslims for a separate country "Pakistan" .
Then came the time , in 1947 when Pakistan came into being after negotiations and struggle by leaders of Pakistan Muslim League.India and Pakistan immediately went to war in 1947 over the disputed territory of Kashmir, a thinly populated province between the two nations. The local Hindu maharaj (ruler) of Kashmir, given the choice to join either Pakistan or India, chose India despite the fact that its population was mostly Muslim. The war ended with a 1949 cease-fire that left the state of Kashmir split in two, with India ruling the eastern two-thirds of Kashmir while Pakistan gained control of the western third. Kashmir was also the cause of the 1965 war between India and Pakistan; the fighting ended in a military stalemate with the division of Kashmir unchanged. And third war resulted in separation of east Pakistan from west Pakistan (Bangladesh of today).
Pakistan , now 65 years of age still struggling to establish itself as a "State" and still many people ( Including many pakistanis ) are happy to describe it as an "Experiment" instead of state. Reason being "Political instability" , in those 65 years almost 35 years were of dictatorship where people of pakistan had no say at all , remaining 30 years of democracy were wasted by the political parties themselves through fightings among parties. In those 30 years of democracy , people of pakistan suffered more than dictatorships. And it made the way for army to take over the government .
Since , 1970 elections just 2 parties have made government in pakistan its either Paksitan Peoples Party or Pakistan Muslim League( Being devided now in severa; fractions) . And even now its PPP government except Punjab where PML is in government (PMLN). And these four n half years are said to be the worst in history of Pakistan. People of Pakistan have now tried everything from dictatorship to 5 years of full term democracy and the problems of Pakistan r still there but experimentation is still going on .
In the end , Just a bird's eyeview of major problems in pakistan
Monstrous Debt
Education
61.2% of Pakistan illiterate
50.0% male illiteracy
75.6% female illiteracy
Poverty
Uneducated population unattractive to foreign business
Difficult to recruit foreign businesses
Only 38 million of 142 million make up work force
7% unemployment, but 34% of people in poverty
No foreign investment
7th highest population world wide (2000)
142,000,000
Taxes world and local resources
Water, land, fossil fuels
3rd largest population by 2050
2.17 current growth rate
Solution to these problems is simple but the seasoned politicians have made it complicated by indulging in dirty poltics. we just need 3 things and Pakistan will b a "State" instead of "Experiment".
1. Rule of Law ( Can't happen untill police nd law enforcement institutions are depoliticised.)
2. Educational emergency in country
3. Economic reforms (Decreasing expenditures , utilising own resources )
Whoever does that with honesty is a "Hero" in history of Pakistan. And the beautifull land of pakistan is still waiting for that "Hero" who will give this country what it deserves and will put the stamp of "State" on Pakistan .... That Day will come , Insha Allah.

Your Opinion

Who can take Pakistan from "Experiment" to "State" ????

1. Army
2.PPP
3.PTI
4.PMLN
5. Someone else
